My name is Denise van Eeden (Doula Denise).
I have supported Truus Gale with her childbirth preparation classes since 2017.
I have worked as a birth doula since 2014 and have attended many births over the years, both home and hospital deliveries. As a birth doula, I am an extra member of your birth team and give 1-on-1 support during pregnancy to prepare your mind, body and partner for birth. During the birth, I will be there to continuously support you; no matter how long it takes, I won’t leave your side. You will feel taken care of and be able to give birth peacefully. Especially if you are new to this country, don’t understand Dutch or know little about the medical support system, having a doula at your side can make the difference when it comes to your birth experience!
I am calm, down to earth and gentle – but on the other hand very persistent if necessary. That must have to do with my background as a lawyer. One of the most important things for me is that your wishes are heard and that you, together with your partner, feel empowered during birth. I will constantly try to nurture the calm and safe environment a woman needs to give birth in peace – and will keep an eye on your wishes for the birth in the meantime.
I have also been a certified postnatal doula since 2016, so I support families after birth as well. My focus in the postnatal support is helping your body recover from pregnancy and birth and to get stronger again. I offer a treatment package that consists of different techniques, including belly binding, that help the body to recover quickly after birth. I also love to cook traditional nutritious, healthy meals that are beneficial to the recovery process after birth but also for milk production when you breastfeed your baby. After all, the food you eat is the fuel for your body, so it better be good.
As well as being a doula, I am also an orthomolecular nutritionist. Under the brand name Nutrilicious I give women nutritional advice during pregnancy and the first weeks postpartum. This advice helps you to get the nutrients you need to grow a healthy and happy baby, but also to support your own body during this process. Don’t underestimate how hard it is for your body to grow a baby. If you take good care of your body during pregnancy, you will benefit from that after birth as well and you will notice you recover faster. I can also offer support for specific pregnancy-related issues such as gestational diabetes.
